This Seawind 1260 was delivered from the factory in Vung Tau, Vietnam, to her new owner in New Zealand following completion of construction and commissioning.
Factory deliveries require a different approach to many yacht relocations, with additional attention given to final checks, onboard systems and preparing the vessel for an extended offshore passage before departure. Once underway, the delivery involved a substantial passage south through the western Pacific to New Zealand.
Many catamaran deliveries in Asia are planned around the two monsoon seasons rather than fixed calendar dates. A route that is straightforward for several months of the year may become considerably less attractive once the prevailing winds change, making flexibility an important part of delivery planning.
